State News

VA - A conference committee is putting the final touches on the state budget and hope to have it ready in time for lawmakers to adjourn as scheduled on Saturday, March 13. However, Senate Democratic leadership is hinting that overtime may be necessary to wrap up debate on education funding.
WV - Lawmakers passed a state budget this week and remain on schedule to adjourn Saturday, March 13.
UT - Lawmakers are applying the finishing touches to the state budget which must be approved by midnight on March 11 when the 2010 legislative session adjourns sine die.
WA - The regular session is supposed to end March 11, but with no agreement on a $2.8 billion budget deficit, legislators say a special session is inevitable.
AZ - Lawmakers are meeting in special session this week to deal with adjustments to the budget including state employee compensation and workforce reduction.
