State News

WV - The legislature is meeting in extended session this week on the budget and are aiming to adopt a budget bill by March 21. Lawmakers will also have a chance to consider the governor's vetoes before they leave town.
AZ - The special budget session that convened last week adjourned March 16. Lawmakers in the special session, which was running concurrently with 2010 regular session, made additional spending cuts in order to balance the 2011 state budget.
VA - The General Assembly adjourned its regular session on Sunday, March 14, after slashing state spending in order to adopt a two-year balanced budget.
IN - The legislature adjourned the 2010 regular session sine die on Saturday, March 13. A deal to delay a proposed unemployment insurance tax hike until next year allowed lawmakers to end the session a day earlier than projected.
